New online facilities for Broads boaters
By: Broads Authority
BROADS boat owners are able to renew their tolls online by registering their details on https://tolls.broads-authority.gov.uk
They will then be sent a pin number which gives access to the site. After signing a declaration that they have third party insurance they will be able to buy a new toll provided their Boat Safety Certificate is up to date. They will also be able to update their mooring location and order tide tables online.
It is not currently possible to register new boats on line but this facility will become available at a later date.
While boat owners are on the Broads Authority website they have the chance to win £100 towards their toll, plus a new life jacket simply by completing the 2012 boat owners’ survey.
This is the third time the Authority has canvassed boat owners’ opinions. Previous surveys provided valuable information about boat owners’ priorities which helped the Authority determine its work plans.
The 2012 survey is being carried out by an independent company, which saves money on administration and postage. The survey will be closed at the end of April and the results will be published on the Authority’s website.
The winner will be selected at random by the survey company and will win £100 towards the cost of this year’s toll or, should the toll be less than £100, chandlery vouchers to the value of the difference. The prize includes a free life-jacket as part of the new safety campaign.
Navigation Committee Chairman David Broad said: “The Navigation Committee was consulted about the questions and the way in which the survey will be done and overwhelmingly recommended an online poll which will save thousands of pounds on previous surveys and enable more questions to be asked. I invite all toll payers to play a very active part and join the debate on the priorities for expenditure.”
