BRITISH Waterways has appointed Daniel Charles as its individual giving manager. Daniel joins head of fundraising, Ruth Ruderham, in building the giving strategy for the Canal & River Trust, the charity that will succeed British Waterways in England & Wales later this year.

Daniel is an experienced fundraising professional who was previously at Christian Aid for seven years. He has a wealth of individual giving experience and knowledge for both recruitment and retention. Daniel enjoys developing and innovating fundraising and as such was integral in launching Christian Aid’s growing fundraising programme, through the introduction of face to face, prospecting, as well as launching the organisations virtual giving catalogue and mobile recruitment programme.

Ruth Ruderham said: “IDaniel will be developing a long-term individual giving programme which will form the foundation of our fundraising work in this area.”

Daniel said: “I am delighted to join British Waterways at the cusp of the transition to the Canal & River Trust. It’s a really exciting challenge to build up an individual giving strategy in what is completely new territory for the organisation. I’m looking forward to getting to know the network better and recruiting new supporters for this important cause.”
