Guests were welcomed by Sue McCarthy, marina supervisor. Robert Parton, marina owner, thanked everyone for attending and awarded Julie and Howard Twigg the Endurance Award for their long association with the Marina. They kept their boat, Bramble on the Marina storage yard for two years before taking up a mooring space when the Marina opened three years ago.
Glen Little, who moors her boat in the Marina, thanked all the Marina staff on behalf of all the moorers for all their hard work during the past year. In particular she commended them for taking extra trouble and going the extra mile for all their customers and associates when the need arises. Everyone present endorsed her thanks enthusiastically and agreed wholeheartedly with her words.
The event started with wine and canapés in the afternoon and was followed by a meal in the The Galley Café at the Marina for those who wished to stay for the evening and continue the celebration.
Since the marina opened it has expanded the services supplied to include more boat storage, painting, welding, engineering and carpentry. The aim has always been to become a one-stop shop with competitive prices and excellent customer service.
