Lock house relief

THE EA has announced that it will keep a resident lock and weir keeper at each of its 45 lock sites along the River Thames. The new proposal follows protests earlier this year when the EA announced it was to sell 10 river lock cottages and to let a further 12 to cut costs. These protests led to an Early Day Motion to be tabled in Parliament and the Agency suspending the proposals for further review.
