New Reach never better thanks to volunteers


AT ITS recent AGM,  the New Reach Working Group at Halesworth, Suffolk, reviewed the progress that has been made over the past twelve months.

Recently, Millennium Green volunteers have cleared fences and hedges and strimmed the towpath, opening up the waterway to rest of the Green. They will shortly strim the park section of the towpath and later clear some of the weed.

The new punt was put to good use recently, picking up litter and fallen branches from the canal.

The wildlife is thriving; there’s a new brood of mallard ducklings, the moorhen are busy, there are several water vole and it is hoped the fish are spawning too.

NRWG has launched a Friends Scheme which simply means agreeing to pay a monthly sum by direct debit to the New Reach account. Contact the group for further details at
