Towpath & Canal Links
THE BOARD OF EUROPE PROJECT
In September 2008, 2 Lifesaving Sport instuctors, Rob Inett & James Fletcher, will attempt a unique and highly demanding physical challenge. By doing so they hope to interest the British media and public in the importance of water safety. Their vehicle - re-inventing the humble Beach Lifeguard surf rescue 'paddleboard'.
September 2007 will see them paddling nearly 30 venues back to back around UK waters. This will cover over 250km of paddling on the water, and nearly 2000 miles of driving between venues. September 2008 will see the duo first paddleboard across the English Channel, before attempting a 400km tour around European waterways.
Throughout the two tours, Rob & James will carry out a large media campaign including water safety events, public appearances, news coverage and school visits. Their aim - to ensure everybody they encounter thinks for just that little bit longer about how safe they are in the water.
