THE February work-party date was the day that Storm Doris decided to arrive! Sensibly the work was postponed to the following week when 17 volunteers enjoyed a much drier and calmer day.
Almost all of the outstanding jobs were completed; those that were left require materials that are still on order.
At Barbridge the fence rail was given two coats of white Hammerite and the compound, once it had dried out, was painted.
At Calveley the compound had some of its furniture fitted and the area that was inaccessible earlier in the year was painted and the rest had another coat.
In Chester extra support was fitted inside the compound and it was painted. Site furniture was treated with Cuprinol and the rail fence was repainted. The water point, totem posts and the straps on the rails are to be completed later in the month.
The April work party will be a three-day event at Roundthorne Bridge No 44 at Whixall on the Llangollen Canal from April 26-28.
The site offers mooring, car parking, welfare cabin and toilet. Volunteers are welcome for one day or all three. Bookings are being taken but things are still provisional
